Healthcare Administrators Fill A Growing Need
Liz Perry for Leaders in Healthcare – Feb. 21, 2008
According to Managed Healthcare Executive Magazine, “As patients take more ownership of their disease management regimens, hospitals are beginning to re-evaluate their processes—clinically, administratively and culturally.” This means that healthcare administrators need to know what the customer wants how to get those desires met.
Healthcare consumers desire a lot of elements – quality care, the latest in technology, affordable pricing, and convenience, just to name a few. And as the elderly population grows, so does the number of consumers frequenting healthcare services, which requires more leaders to advance in their careers and the take the reins to make the necessary elements a reality.
Where do these leaders come from? They are often experienced healthcare professionals who, feeling stuck after many years in the healthcare field, apply their experiential knowledge to advance their careers. With a strong healthcare background and learning in a degree program stressing current, relevant issues, these professionals fill a strong need by becoming administrators. Ultimately, it is a mutually beneficial relationship – they move ahead in their own lives, while still impacting the overall care of the patients they serve.
