This course is an introduction to financial management in the healthcare industry. The course includes general accounting principles, analysis of financial statements, financial planning, and variance analysis as well as an introduction to the economics of today’s healthcare environment including fund flows, markets and marketing, productivity, strategic planning, cost effectiveness, and capital finance/structure.
- MHA 621 Healthcare Organization and Information Technology
This course introduces the student to healthcare organizational structures with an emphasis on the topics of governance, structure, networks, and employee performance. The issues of healthcare costs, access, and quality, within managed care systems and collaborated networks will be addressed.
- MHA 668 Legal and Regulatory Compliance Issues in Healthcare
This course introduces the students to the legal and ethical dilemmas faced by the modern day health care executive. The history of law, the issuer of ethical decision-making, tort law, criminal law, liability of health care professionals, ethical issuer of procreation, contract law, employment law, biomedical law, and antitrust law will be addressed.
