Programme sessions announced

The conference programme committee has put together a comprehensive and engaging programme of speakers and sessions.

We are excited to announce the first confirmed sessions are as follows:

  • Resilience – How resilient are doctors, and can resilience skills be taught

This discussion will be led by Beatrice Downie, Leadership Fellow at Health Education England in the North East and ST6 Respiratory Registrar will explore the attitudes of trainees and educators towards resilience training.

  • Collaboration and conflict: real life experiences of leadership in a new model of care

Newer out-of-hospital integrated intermediate models of care are heralded as a solution to increasing demands on health systems, often cited as key success factors in local sustainability and transformation plans.

This session, led by Darzi Fellow, Frederick Lewis outlines the challenges and successes from the perspective of a lead partner tasked with coordinating and fostering collaboration between diverse partners.

  • Changing culture to deliver a health and wellbeing approach in prison environments

This session by Care UK, independent sector healthcare provider, will reflect on the work they have done in changing way that healthcare is delivered across prisons in England.

  • Leadership lessons from elite sport

This session will hear from Dr Carrie Thomas, ST4 in Emergency Medicine at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, North Wales who will share insights from her experiences as an Emergency Medicine trainee and  elite sportswoman.

Attendees will learn about examples of leadership techniques used within elite sport coaching, discuss Sports Psychology insights that transfer into the clinical environment and how to lead and develop your team to facilitate “peak performance” when caring for patients.
