Programme theme

The theme for this year will be 'Developing leaders, building networks, inspiring innovation'.

This year’s programme focuses on helping aspiring leaders and those already in leadership positions to develop and improve the skills they need to be most effective, to make connections with like-minded individuals tackling similar projects and to get inspired by leaders from both healthcare and other industries.

Programme highlights

Our programme delivers a mixture of interactive sessions which give you a chance to share experiences with fellow participants and seek advice from our experts, panel discussions and debates, which look at some of the key challenges in healthcare leadership, and presentations from organisations who have produced excellent results and inspiring work in this area.

What’s new this year

We are expanding our existing network of breakfast sessions so you have the chance to meet with like-minded colleagues ahead of the conference programme.

This year we will introduce our interactive theatre, a space within the exhibition for companies and individuals to showcase innovative work and get live feedback from our audience.

We will also have a brand new networking space where we will arrange meet ups with different groups.

Keynote speakers

The programme will be delivered by leading national and international speakers who will provide unique insights into different approaches to building quality improvement capacity and leaders within healthcare systems. Our interactive workshops and inspiring speakers will also focus you on how to continually grow your leaderships skills.

Professor Sir Bruce Keogh, National Medical Director, NHS England

On his retirement from NHS England, Professor Sir Bruce Keogh will share his reflections on his time as National Medical Director, and the opportunities and challenges medical leadership will face in the future.

Gulwali Passarlay, Afghan refugee, author, TEDx speaker and politics major at University of Manchester

Gulwali Passarlay is an influential Afghan refugee, author, TEDx speaker and politics major at University of Manchester. He will be sharing his story from arriving in the UK as an unaccompanied minor to taking on a number of leadership positions campaigning to give those in vulnerable positions a voice.

Nicky Moffat, Speaker, Leadership Consultant and Executive Coach

Nicky Moffat was Britain’s highest ranking female Army officer, retiring as a Brigadier. In almost thirty years of service she held a range of personnel, administration and leadership roles. She is now a speaker, leadership consultant and executive coach, and promotes the role of strong leadership in driving inclusive change and optimum performance.

Deborah Rowland, Speaker, Writer, Coach and Management practitioner

In the 2017 Thinkers50 Radar Deborah Rowland was named as one of the new generation of management thinkers changing the world of leadership and the management of change. Co-author of Sustaining Change: Leadership That Works, and now, Still Moving: How to Lead Mindful Change, Deborah is a leading-edge thinker, speaker, writer, coach and practitioner in the field of leading large complex change.
