Keith Ridge

Chief Pharmaceutical Officer, NHS England

Dr Keith Ridge was appointed Chief Pharmaceutical Officer for NHS England in April 2013.  His role supports the Department of Health, broader Government and Health Education England.  He is head of profession for the pharmacy professions and the principal advisor on pharmacy and medicines use.  He leads on issues such as medicines optimisation, pharmacy educational reform and transforming pharmacy practice in line with the NHS’s Five Year Forward View.  From 2006, Keith was Chief Pharmaceutical Officer at the Department of Health.  He also spent 7 years as Chief Pharmacist at North Glasgow Hospitals and the University Hospital Birmingham.

In 2014 New Year Honours list, Keith was awarded CBE for services to the pharmacy profession and patients.
